What makes
Faith in Action Unique?
Faith in Action: Elder Outreach is a
coalition of faith communities and local organizations that recruits,
trains, and mobilizes volunteers to assist older adults who need support
and care to remain in their homes. The common goal of this interfaith
coalition is to provide services that help older adults remain in their own
homes as long as possible.

What is the need for services to older adults?
|
|
Americans are
living longer. It is estimated that, by 2050, more than one out of every
five people will be 65 or older. Fayette County is ranked second in Kentucky in the percentage of population over age 65. One in four households in Kentucky now includes at least one person 65 years of
age or older. Research has shown that, as people age, they prefer to
continue living independently, preferably in within their communities in
their own homes. There is a substantial need for supplemental services to
assist older citizens maintain independent living and a need for assistance
to families caring for older members.
The free services of Faith in
Action: Elder Outreach provided by volunteers can help meet this
increasing community need.
